The morning of the 4th, we packed up bright and early and headed to the booth our church was sponsoring at a local 4th of July celebration.
They even gave us snazzy t-shirts for the occasion :)
Little Miss Teething-and-Feverish-but-still-Happy
She loves being on Daddy's shoulders!
I love the patriotism of some of the members of our congregation!
We'll have to ask Skip for some tips next year when we...deck out Kayleigh's stroller or something ;-)
When our shift working the booth was over, we hopped in the car for two hours and arrived at our friends' home to celebrate Emily's birthday
Kayleigh got in some good bonding time with Uncle Arlen
And Auntie Em
She also got to meet her newest little friend, Sara's sweet little Miss Lucy
(don't they look so sweet and patriotic!?)
I love our tradition of spending the 4th of July celebrating Em's and America's birthdays. Emily and I have been friends since we were 5, and there are very few birthdays that we've missed. I'm glad that 21 years after our first crepe-paper streamer bike birthday parade, we're still keeping up the tradition of celebrating together. It was a special day!
Ahh I haven't seen Emily in forever! If she remembers me, say hi to her for me!
